Demystifying therapy-

To make therapy easier to understand and less intimidating by clearing up common misconceptions.

Therapy isn’t just for times of crisis, many people go to therapy for personal growth, stress management, relationship issues, or navigating life changes.

You don’t have to know what to say, trained therapists will help guide the conversation, even if you’re unsure where to start.

It’s not about being judged, a therapist’s role is to listen, understand and help you explore your thoughts, feelings in a supportive environment.

There isn’t one “right” kind of therapy, different approached can be used such as CBT, psychodynamic or person- centred suit different people and their goals.

While different types of therapy use different techniques, most follow a similar process:

Getting to know you, in the first session to learns about your concerns, background and what you hope to achieve.

Setting goals, together you identify what you want to work on, such as managing anxiety, improving relationships, coping with grief, or building confidence. Exploring any patterns in your thoughts, emotions and behaviours that may be contributing to your difficulties.

Learning new skills, such as:

Challenging unhelpful thinking

Managing difficult emotions

Improving communication

Developing healthier coping skills

Practising relaxation or mindfulness techniques

Therapy isn’t about someone telling you what to do or “fixing” you. Instead, it is a collaborative process that helps you better understand yourself, develop practical skills, and make changes that support your wellbeing.
