Hypnotherapy explained
It is a form of guided therapy, a state of focused attention and heightened suggestibility to help you change unwanted habits.
It is not about being asleep or unconscious but rather a focused, deeply relaxed mental state where you become more open to suggestions for positive change, the ability to focus on specific thought and images.
Despite the stereotypes, it is not mind control you remain aware of what’s happening, it’s more like a state of absorbed attention, similar to being deeply immersed in a book, film or daydream.
Using guided imagery, repetition, working on specific issues and goals while in a focused state.
I run hypnotherapy sessions for:
Anxiety and stress – using guided relaxation to reduce stress, helps to reframe negative thought patterns and induces a calm state.
Aims to replace anxious, automated thoughts with calmer more positive responses to triggers.
Stopping smoking – aims to break nicotine addiction by using guided relaxation to suggest aversive thoughts towards cigarettes and reinforce positive, non-smoking behaviours in the subconscious mind, identify specific triggers and replace the urge to smoke with feelings of calm or indifference.
Session structure in 2 sessions – requires willingness, it works best for those committed to quitting.
